Komorebi
Komorebi proposes a school that grows from what is already there, existing trees, permeable ground, the rhythm of two urban promenades. The new building resists the tabula rasa: nearly all existing trees are retained, full soil preserved beneath.
Classrooms spill outward onto sheltered extensions, learning spaces that blur the threshold between architecture and landscape. A hybrid concrete-wood-metal structure reduces material use while supporting natural ventilation through solar chimneys.
A green roof and integrated photovoltaics complete a building conceived less as an object than as a layered public ground, for education, sport, and everyday life.
