1435 mm

1435 mm, the gauge of a railway track, anchors this project in the logic of existing infrastructure. A formerly disused zone beside the Saint-Maurice station becomes the site for the new University of Teacher Education.

Rather than erasing, the proposal works with what remains: the existing Cargo building is retained and renovated, its freight hall transformed into a cafeteria. A new volume, adjacent to the station, frames a protected public space shared with a future media library.

Passive climate systems, rooftop photovoltaics and rainwater recovery embed sustainability into the building structure. The campus becomes an urban park, permeable, green, and open to the city.
